Artist Sleep Token
The track is transcribed in the original key, F Sharp Major. A very rare key in modern music. Don't be discouraged by black keys, you only can't play them because you always avoid playing piece with many key symbols! In such a key play all possible black keys (and E-sharp in the bridge).
All chords are extended till the seventh degrees, it creates harmonic ambiguity and secondary colors. I can suppose Vessel added over the seventh degrees when it occurred to him how boring his chords are.
The progression is cadential.
“Damocles” is composed with straight rhythm in common time. Accent strong beats.
The vocals are typed using the optional 𝄠 suboctave clef (the treble clef with the numeral 8 below it). Sing one octave lower than written but play the right-hand part at any octave you prefer. Upright pianos don't sound good in the lower register. The notes in brackets should be barely heard.
The left-hand provides an accompaniment. If other Sleep Token's files were any popular, I would spent time on transcribing a Piano + Voice duet. Actually, the piano part in the instrumental track plays simple chords and repeat vocal melody from time to time.
The melody builds tension from verse to chorus, and from bridge to chorus. Only the soft piano outro releases tension.
Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through simplicity that sounds authentic and sincere. I am not calling Vessel a lazy songwriter: a more loaded sound (longer motives or chords' progressions) would took away attention from lyrics.
